Ecuador – Quito

We travel, some of us forever, to seek other places, other lives, other souls.” – Anais Nin

Hey friends!

Wow, this trip was a long time ago! I found pictures of little me in here while looking for a different family vacation album on the home computer. I think I was about 9 when we embarked on our journey through Ecuador to visit my grandparents while they were on their mission trip. It’s been a long while, but I still remember being enthralled by the colors of the fruits and the kindness that I experienced while I was there!

The town markets are beautiful and full of colorful fruits and vegetables!

Llamas were one of my favorite things to see while I was there! I’ve always been an animal lover! So, animals tend to be an exciting memory for me!

Hey, look! Little me with a puppy! Cute, right?

This was an incredibly fun adventure! This is one of those memories I really like to reference for the fun fact and interesting story that followed. This is at the top of the volcano Chimborazo. The fun fact about it? It is the farthest point from the center of the earth! It was a really cool, beautiful place! There were repercussions, however… This was the only time in my life (with all the mountains I’ve climbed before) where I got altitude sickness! I didn’t eat for 3 days, and I was not a pretty sight. But, in the end, I honestly think it was worth it! Sometimes you have to accept some downsides to enjoy the grand adventures!

Another awesome experience was standing on the equator line! I put one foot on either side of the line and stood on the North and South hemispheres of the earth at one time! It was a pretty exciting thing for me! Someday, I’d like to stand on the Prime Meridian as well!

Here’s my lovely grandparents standing on the equator:

It was an incredible experience! Unfortunately, I don’t have pictures of the amazing people that I met there. However, they were the most influential part of the entire trip! As fun as all the travel adventures were, it was an incredible blessing to spend time with people in the area! I remember being blown away by the abandon of the church as they worshipped together! They were just so happy to be there and so welcoming to my family! It was such a beautiful place in so many ways!

Thanks for reading!

Sincerely,

Kirsten
